STAR Award Categories

2017 OACVB STAR AWARD CATEGORIES

 

Print Communications

 

  • Visitor Guide/Planner – This category includes visitor guides, tour planners or meeting planners. Please submit two (2) hard copies.

 

  • Brochure/Flyer/Rack Card – This category includes all brochures, flyers, rack cards and other print materials that are less than seven (7) pages. Please submit two (2) hard copies.

 

  • Newsletter/E-newsletter – This category includes print (or email) newsletters that are directed towards CVB members/partners. Submit any two separate issues sent within the entry year.  Entries may be submitted electronically by emailing to:  mhunter@oacvb.org with the following information contained in the subject line:  CVB Name/Budget Category/Entry Category/Name of Entry

 

Marketing Campaigns

  • Marketing Campaign – This category is for a promotional campaign that involves at least two or more marketing mediums and that ties together one cohesive message. Specific campaign elements included in this entry may also be individually entered into other categories (e.g., a print advertisement that is part of a global marketing campaign may be entered separately as a standalone “print advertisement”).  Entries may be submitted in hard copy form (please provide two (2) copies) or in email form to mhunter@oacvb.org with the following information contained in the subject line:  CVB Name/Budget Category/Entry Category/Name of Entry.

 

  • Promotional Video/Commercial – This category includes any advertisements or videos that promote your destination. Entries should be submitted via a web link to the video (preferred) or DVD.  Web links should be emailed to:  mhunter@oacvb.org with the following information contained in the subject line:  CVB Name/Budget Category/Entry Category/Name of Entry.

 

  • Print Advertisement – This category includes advertisements which have appeared in a newspaper, magazine, outdoor or other print medium. It may be a single ad or a campaign designed around one theme.  Entries should be submitted in PDF form by email to:  mhunter@oacvb.org with the following information contained in the subject line:  CVB Name/Budget Category/Entry Category/Name of Entry.

 

Web-Based Marketing

  • Website – This category includes a website created to promote your destination. Entries should be submitted via a URL link in email to:  mhunter@oacvb.org with the following information contained in the subject line:  CVB Name/Budget Category/Entry Category/Name of Entry/

 

  • Social Media Campaign – This category includes a campaign utilizing social networking platforms (such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) to engage and reach your target audience for a cohesive message.

 

  • Blog – This category includes digital articles written to promote your destination/event/attraction and will be judged on design, audience engagement, writing and creativity of topics.

 

NEW CATEGORIES

  • DMO Advocacy – This category includes any printed or digital materials created by your organization to further the message of the value of a CVB/DMO and tourism within your community. Entries may be in any medium and may include such things as annual reports (printed or digital), power point presentations, brochures, flyers, etc. (Entry fee applies)

 

  • FREE ENTRIES (do not require an entry fee to submit):

 

  • “Epic Fail”: Because we all learn from our own mistakes and the mistakes of others, we thought it would be fun to share your biggest “oops” of the year.  What is one project or idea that you pursued this year that wished you could forget?  No judging here.    No need to submit materials ahead of time; just bring your entry with you to the Awards Luncheon.  But please fill out and send in an entry form to let us know what to expect!

 

  • Best Giveaway or Promotional Item: This category is for a new promotional or giveaway item that was well-received and popular with recipients.  Please submit one sample.  This category will be judged as a “People’s Choice” winner during the OACVB Conference & Awards Luncheon.
