Sales Manager
Reports to: Director of Sales
Markets: State Association, State Government, Religious & Multicultural

Position Description
· Actively promotes the use of Dayton/Montgomery County area as a convention, meeting, seminar, training and trade show destination
· Promotion occurs through: personal contact, sales calls, telephone calls, internet, e-mail, direct mail, sales blitzes and industry trade shows
· Provides information to organization/association executives regarding the extent of services provided by the convention and visitors bureau staff
· Identify, recruit and encourage local people affiliated within markets to hold future meetings in Dayton
· Develop, coordinate and implement strategies leading to the preparation and presentation of convention/meeting bid proposals to ensure the achievement of future booking goals
· Invite key decision makers to Dayton for site inspections and familiarization tours
· Organize/coordinate site inspections based on organizational requirements
· Provide site inspection agendas and details to all venues involved in the business (ie venues, hotels, attractions, restaurants, etc.)
· Maintain a working knowledge of Dayton area hotel/motel/meeting facilities and continue close contacts with their sales personnel for information exchange and site visit scheduling
· Maintain a familiarity with competing areas or issues that impact the Bureaus ability to promote Dayton
· Represent the Bureau at selected and targeted industry meetings and trade shows and follow-up on leads generated at these functions
· Serve on industry boards and committees as requested to gain exposure within the industry
· Complete all necessary and required reports and files to maintain accurate organization/association files
· Develop action plans and budget recommendations to meet/exceed goals and objectives
· Perform all other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Education
· College undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in area related to sales, marketing or public relations with hospitality sales/marketing emphasis
Skills
· A high degree of written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of the hospitality industry and meeting planning basics
Experience
· Minimum of two years of sales experience, especially within the hospitality industry
Position Relationships
Services Department
· Coordinate with the services staff to effectively service organizations/associations meeting in Dayton to ensure an enjoyable and successful function
Hotel/Motel/Meeting Facilities/Attractions
· Develop relationships to work closely with sales staff to exchange information and develop bid presentation and proposals
Industry Organizations and Associations
· Work within the organization, ie attend functions, participate on committees, and network with meeting planners to stay attuned to industry changes, trends and develop leads
Markets
· Responsible for development and monitoring of assigned markets. Progress/success based on specific goals determined on an annual basis. Also responsible for administering budget for assigned markets.
Projects
· Responsible for complete planning, execution and follow-up of certain projects as assigned by the Director of Sales and Management.
Finance Department
· Cooperate in following policies and procedures necessary in order to maintain sound fiscal controls, including but not limited to, the timely and accurate submission of expense reports as outlined in the Dayton/Montgomery County CVB Policies and Procedures Manual.
Position Responsibilities
Planning
· Develop, implement, submit budget plans and monitor a long-range plan for marketing the State Association, State Government, Religious, and Multicultural markets for Dayton/Montgomery County.
Decision Authority
· All action plans, implementation plans, and budget items are to be approved by the Director of Sales.
Budget
· Administers budget items relating to State Association, State Government, Religious, and Multicultural markets based on approval of Director of Sales.
Position Duties
· Required to make a minimum of 40 sales calls weekly to clients (20 prospect calls and 20 file trace calls)
· Input, update and manage database of clients
· Develop rapport and work with sales managers at Dayton/Montgomery County hotels/motels, meeting facilities, attractions and restaurants
· Have full knowledge of Dayton/Montgomery County hotels/motels, meeting facilities, attractions and restaurants
· Submit accurate and timely call reports, weekly itineraries and monthly sales reports
· Contact Top City-Wide business prospects and RFP Status Report business prospects on a monthly basis
· Create, plan and execute Familiarization (FAM) Tours, site visits and sales blitzes for State Association, State Government, Religious & Multicultural markets
· Follow-up on all sales leads
· Develop Requests For Proposals (RFPs)
· Coordinate Bid Proposal preparation through the assistance of the sales administrative assistant
· Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals and objectives
Other Characteristics -- Additional Relevant Aspects of the Position
· Requires evening, week-end work, and frequent travel for meetings, tradeshows, and client presentations
· Must be a team player

As a sales manager for Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau you will
- Generate convention center and hotel bookings from assigned market segment
- Vigorously prospect for new business to create and maintain your client base. Identify and develop target customers
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date knowledge of Cincinnatis facilities and selling points and how to use that information to sell against the competition.
- Prepare and present sales (written or oral) presentations to customer boards or site selection committees. Coordinate and conduct site tours.
- Attend industry trade shows, sales trips, networking events, etc to solicit convention business, includes pre-planning, collaborating with Marketing on collateral, selecting target customers, pre-and-post show mailers
- Manage spending to stay within budget
Requirements:
- Education / Experience:
- Previous experience in hospitality industry sales or marketing required
- BA/BS degree (or equivalent related experience)
- Hotel sales or CVB experience preferred
- Must demonstrate ability to deliver room night goal results
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to demonstrate good leadership, communication and organizational skills

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical and administrative support to busy vice president with ultimate responsibility for sales function.
- Draft and distribute correspondence

- Assist VP with time and calendar management
- Coordinate sales meetings: send invitations, record attendance, record/read minutes, cue presentation, and assist with room set-up
- Collect/organize weekly sales updates from sales managers and create reports
- Arrange tradeshow logistics and registrations
- Schedule travel arrangements for sales team along with movement of marketing material
- Supplement administrative support to sales managers during peak work loads or staff shortages

The Union County, Ohio Chamber of Commerce is searching for an ambitious, motivated person who will promote tourism related activities and market community activities, events, and business growth serving as the Public Relations and Tourism Director. The position will support the goals and objectives of the Union County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, and Economic Development Partnership. The person should have an undergraduate degree in public relations, tourism, business, marketing or related field and/or at least four years of related experience. Starting salary is $45 - 55K, depending on qualifications.
