Moments ago on a call with Representative Rick Carfagna, the door was opened to work on details within HB 500, which would revise townships laws in Ohio.
During the conversation, Representative Carfagna explained that testimony on behalf of County Commissioners to add a 5% tax on admission to attractions in counties was not effective and he does not support any admissions tax being levied by counties.
Representative Carfagna also explained that the original township tax included in the bill is intended to offset the cost of some large events in townships that cause a drain on township resources. He indicated that he would be open to narrowing the application of the proposal.
OACVB will continue to work on the issue. We are committed to getting the best outcome for our members.
