During Covid, we took advantage of the TourismOhio Co-op program so we could have some professional video done for limited cost to the bureau. This was a great experience especially in 2021 when we were still unsure how the bureau would be financially.
Because Covid was still prevalent, our goal with this video was to promote our walkable downtown areas as well as recreational opportunities. There were still a lot of people who wanted to travel but had health concerns. This allowed residents and potential visitors to see some ways to enjoy what we have outdoors and still support local businesses. We incorporated shopping, coffee, dining, a variety of ways to enjoy the Great Miami Recreational Trail, we highlighted our Float Troy program for camping on the river, a selfie mural in downtown Tipp City and finally, an outdoor concert in downtown Troy.
This video performed well. We gained a lot of traction with it on social media and with our partners and the state tourism office. When we first launched the video, we posted it on the home page of our website as well as on Facebook and Instagram. In the first couple days, our Facebook post reached over 6200 people with 3500 viewing the full video. It received 899 engagements and was shared 32 times. On Instagram, we reached 902 people with 549 views, 7 comments, and 19 shares.
Our video also gained traction with TourismOhio. They made our video the main post on their Facebook page for Labor Day weekend last year. It was shared an additional 28 times from this post. In addition, Matt MacLaren used our video in his presentation that he did at the 2021 Ohio Conference on Travel. And, TourismOhio used our video as an example in their co-op program presentation for 2022. What a compliment to have the state tourism office using our materials in their marketing and as an example of great video work.
